Never had a problem with a metal under wire...wore on on a flight to Texas last month w/o an issue. ONCE the beeper went off ( pre 9/11) and I told the female security guard I had an under wire on ...she scanned under my breasts and that was the only place that beeped so she believed me......:)

I doubt they will strip search you.
Here's what NOT to do....light a match in flight to cover the smell of flatulence....someone did that last week and is banned.........just from flying, not farting.

It depends what level they have their metal detectors set at. I'm a pro at going through them due to the fact that I visit my friend at a maximum security prison all the time. The airports don't set metal detectors as high as prisons, so you really shouldn't have any problem going through them. If you are worried about it, just go out and purchase a good sports bra with no wire in it just for the flight, there are a lot of good supportive ones out there. I haven't had too much luck finding bras with plastic in them opposed to metal - believe me I've tried!! There really is no way to tell if your current bra is plastic or metal unless you cut it open, but its 99.9% likely it's wire.

If you wear an underwire bra, they may have to strip search you. I advise against it. Trust me, the alarm will go off. I have a metal pin in my hip and it set off the alarm. They checked even though I had a card from my doctor that I had surgery.

You most certainly can wear one. That's all I wear and I travel all the time. It will not go off.

When they run the wand about you, the wire will set it off. they will also ask you about your undergarments
