Emerald is a good one, its the third installment (improves on Ruby and Sapphire).
I'd recommend Fire Red first, its a remake of one of the orignal games (Red) Leaf green is also a remake. Pokemon green was only released in japan with blue released in america.

i said emerald, it is very fun, it got a battle frontier different from ruby and sappier version,and you can clone pokemon in pokmeon emerald,but you need to know how and you get to choose to catch latios or latias after you defeat the elite four.
