What were the direct and long-term consequences for Germany of loosing World War I? Consider the political upheaval, the unwillingness of the German people to admit defeat, terms of the peace settlement, and economic hardships. Do you agree with a statement that World War I caused World War II? Explain your view.

The economic hardship caused by the cost of the first World War contributed to the mindset of the German people. They ELECTED Hitler because he gave them hope. That's a direct consequence of WWI and cause for WWII. The Americans actually advised against a harsh peace settlement, but the British and French demanded that the terms be harsh and expensive- that was part of it. The Germans couldn't forgive and forget b/c it affected their lives so immensely.

You can't say that WWII never would have happened but I strongly agree that WWI caused WWII.

Get down to it and do your own research and write your own research paper.
