You got the riddle wrong. It's: "Why are 1999 £10 notes worth more than 1993 £10 notes?" With the wording you used, it makes no sense at all.

Because there are six more of them.

They are both worth the same amount. The 1993 one can be exchanged in a bank for a 1999 one and as such is worth the same.

I was getting into the time value of money concept... But ped aunt's response has helped me understnad the riddle! good one if indeed its meant to be a riddle.
