My cousin babysits a little boy and his parents told her that they are moving at the end of the month. They came and picked him up Friday and didn't pay her. This morning they came and gave her a check for the amount they owed. ($100.00) She went to the bank to deposit it and the bank told her there were no funds in that account and gave her the check back! She confronted the mom and she said they deposited the money today so try again. She just called the bank and they said there is no money in there and there has been no activity in awhile. Is there anything she can do to get her money???

First - try to talk to the people one more time.... probably to no avail...
You have two choices: try the legal way and take her to small claims court.

or
Keep the check and keep trying to deposit it thru her bank. Do this knowing two things: (1) you will probably never get your money and (2) every time you try to deposit it, she will get an overdraft fee in the area of $25 or more, do this four times and it will cost her much more than $100 and she'll have to clear that up at some point in her life.

I think your cousin has learned a hard lesson. Only accept cash in almost every situation.

I'm sorry that happened to your cousin :( Right in time for the Holidays too. Hopefully charma will get this lady who did this; what comes around goes around.

Have her Mom or Dad go over there and get the money in person,You're out of luck if they move out of state.

deposit the check in her account and when it bounces, she can have the people arrested for writing a worthless check.

tell her she is going to sue her for the money if she doesn't pay her now.
this should scare her, or just call the police.
