my pet nurse shark will only eat nurses and my pet anaconda will only eat girls called Anna. Is this normal, or is there something mysterious afoot? I also have a pet robin redbreast with the same problem.

I bet your Collie only eats cauliflower grown in borders and your cat only eats gingerbread men called Tom. I had a cross bred sheep dog- it only ate cross sheep. So fussy. You'll have to take your robin to Tenerife- should find his cuisine on the beach there.
