If I understand you correctly, then you need to hook up your cable modem to the router in your garage that connects the rest of your ether net wiring in your new home.
If this is the case, there is probably a port on the back of your router which says "internet" - hook up a cable from your cable modem to that port.
Once this is done, and if you are lucky, it might just start working. If not, you will have to contact your ISP and ask them to help you set the router up properly in order to receive service.

May be just as easy to have your cable provider put a cable drop in your garage. Then you can connect your cable modem to the cable jack& your router to the cable modem. If your router is like mine, it also has 4 switch ports which can be connected to the jacks throughout your house

I'll be happy to help you get your system set up but i'm going to need a little more info than what you've given. Are you saying that you have two computers, one in the house and one in the garage and you're wanting to network them both together so that you can share the main machines internet service? Not easy to answer this, with the info given, but on the box outside, there should be a patch panel, and all you need to do is plug the main cable to the router and you are set.

use internet connection sharing on your connection to the internet via your adsl modem - it will automatically set up your ethernet connection on your main pc - and all other pc's on the network will be able to connect to the internet
