Our freedom ends, where the freedom of others begin.

I think he is right being the way that he is. The government has no right to ban the things that he was talking about like smoking or trans fats. Those are individual choices and freedoms, and should be left up to the individual or the business. This country was founded on the belief of individual freedom, and that the government should have limited authority given to it by the Constitution. Read the Ninth and Tenth Amendments to the Bill of Rights. He is also right on the free trade and health care as well. But, if you want to live in a Big Brother society where the government tells us when we can wipe butts then start limiting freedom until we have none left. Mabe we will end up like Hitler's Germany or Stalin's Soviet Union.

It sounds like he's fed up with the labels. I've seen several posts pointing out similar emotions about the Republican party labelling itself as the party of family values. It's politics, it works, and it certainly isn't new.
Race relations is a great example. Look over the past century. A Dem was the only president to exclude blacks from the White House staff. The military was desegregated under a Dem president. A Rep president sent troops to Little Rock to enforce a desegregation order, and Rep presidents have had black SecStates and nominated the only black Justice of the Supreme Court. The two parties both work towards a color-blind society, though their methods differ. But Kennedy's "Southern Strategy" in his presidential campaign, which had everything to do with electoral college strategy and next-to-nothing to do with civil rights, has forever labeled the Dems as the party of civil rights. Good advertising works to a much greater degree than we're willing to admit. Common sense isn't common, and having folks gripe about it is as normal as could be.

WHAT FREEDOM ??

I can't speak my honest mind and have to be constantly *politically correct* so that noone gets offended (i am oppressed from my own thoughts!), I cannot smoke inside a bar, soda and junk food are banned in school, no Christmas carols allowed in school, no online gambling, smoking is completely banned in Washington, Can't get too drunk at bars in Texas (or some state in the U.S), No guns allowed for self protection so the criminals know we are more vulnerable now, Democrats will raise taxes again, instead of educating the poor they are just gonna spoon feed them and have them stay poor, middle class families are screwed from their bills, debts, Inflation and paying mortgages.. WHAT FREEDOM ?????

I am so tired of the communists running this country...

Arguing that any current political is for freedom is a little suspect. Republicans and democrats have been hurting our freedoms as of late.

I think he does not understand what he is saying....or the party and is just trying to reinforce his own ideology to himself and those like him. I believe in freedom to the extent that we can hurt ourself but not others.

I like JP's answer.

"Our freedom ends, where the freedom of others begin."

HIs grandpa is very wise. Sometimes it's wise to listen to the wise.

The freedom part isn't the problem...it's just trying to impose it on other countries that's the problem.

He's needs to educate himself. Half of what he says is incorrect! The other, questionable!

Not unlike many who yell loud about this side and that, his facts are confused.
