I agree with the first poster; the art college I attend has a set group of models that I believe are paid on the school's dime, as opposed to being part of an art group and having to pay an independent agent. If you call the school, or go there in person, they'll point you in the right direction to join on as a model.
If you haven't done modelling before, keep in mind that it's an uncomfortable job. You'll be sitting, standing, crouching, leaning or arching in the same position anywhere from a few seconds to one-five hours, and that's assuming you're assigned a static pose. Gesture models have an even tougher job, because it's up to them to choose interesting poses and angles ever 30 seconds to five minutes, and students definitely notice if a model whips out the same pose six times in a gesture session.
Not to mention the fact that the teacher will be pointing out your various features, good or bad, and commenting on the best way to depict them-- some of the most creative wording I've ever heard has been from teachers trying their damndest not to say outright that the model before us is under-endowed or fat. It's a tough job, but we students understand how much it sucks to be you-- treat us nicely and we'll be sweet as sugarplums.
Just don't expect us to talk much. It's INCREDIBLY awkward to hold a conversation with someone who's naked, no matter how used to the human body you are.

Art schools are always looking for people to do live modeling for their students, so if you have an art school in your city just call the main office and offer. Be aware though that alot of live modelling requires you to be nude so think long and hard if this is something you'd be comfortable with before applying.

No. it is not prevalent. in the event that they're asking you to pose nude and that they are going to take photos of you, then you definately must be paid for that. Artists artwork with one among those distinctive nude fashions with various physique types and proportions. Taking photos of a type contained in the nude for reference purposes? truthfully no longer. It looks like a rip-off and you have good reason to be stricken. as quickly as somebody has nude photos of you they could be incredibly circulated and out of doorways of your administration. do no longer Do It. they are not specialists. that's no longer how the business enterprise works.

It depends on where you live. Is there a college nearby? That would be the safest way to go.
