I vaguely remember reading it as a kid, it´s about a young man and his family who lives in a house inhabited by the ghost of a young girl who died of influenza at the beginning of the 20th century. That´s all I remember, I also remember the character´s name was something like Bart or Art. I think it´s a book for teenagers or young adults. Also, I think the main character is the only one that can see and talk to the ghost.

I wonder if you're thinking of "The Ghost Belonged to Me" by Richard Peck. The boy's name is Alexander, it takes place in the 1910's, and the ghost is a little French girl named Inez. I can't remember how she dies, but if your memory is vague it may be worth checking into. The book was made into a Disney movie that has become a bit of a cult classic called "Child of Glass."

I believe I know the book you speak of...I listened to one on audio cassette about a boy who moves into an old house and discovers the ghost of a boy who was murdered and wants revenge against his murderer and takes the boy back in time to help him get revenge...oh, never mind...this is totally not what you were talking about...but it was an excellent book if I could remember the name.
