I get annoyed when I hear democrats and celebrities complaining about republicans giving tax breaks to the rich; and these same celebrities get "goody bags" and such worth upward of $100,000 and they don't even PAY taxes on this stuff! (Though, I've heard there will finally be some crack down on this practice)

The democratic politicians invite these celebrities to fund raisers and such and are willing to let them speak for their "values" and yet most of the politicians and celebrities are rich and benefit from these tax breaks.

Why is it considered "evil" when it's the corporate right; but "ok" when it's liberal celebrities that are screwing the American tax payers?

I didn't say anything about being "illegal or bribery" simply that it seems like a case of people in glass houses throwing stones.

Many celebrities and liberal politicians benefit from these tax cuts and these celebrities get tons of stuff for free that they don't pay taxes on....so where do they get off criticizing tax breaks for "the rich" when they abuse the system just as much.

I'm not defending corporations or conservatives. But they acknowledge that they are giving these breaks to the rich. Dems and celebs act as if it disgusts them, all the while they are benefitting. That is hypocritial.

Well, there are plenty of celebs and rich people who support the repub party as well-- so I would say no.

Now, on the other part of your topic-- yes it is is hypocritical to demonize "rich" people when most of the ruling class dems and celebs are fithly rich.

Your question doesn't make any sense. There are celebs that support the Dems and celebs that support GOP. Perfect example, Michael J Fox does a commercial supporting stem cell research. The next day there is a commercial with Kurt Warner and others arguing against stem cell research.

As for the "goody bags", those are given out at awards shows, not at political fundraisers. And the celebs don't ask for that free stuff, the companies beg them to take their stuff so that their products will get free advertisement. Companies make tons of money when their products are seen being used/worn by celebs.

Lastly you said "I'm not defending corporations or conservatives. But they acknowledge that they are giving these breaks to the rich". I would love to see the transcripts that you read where an elected politician said, "We acknowledge that this bill is going to give a big tax break for the rich." Hahaha...

If the goodie bags haven't been taxed in the past, how is that the celebrities fault?
These people are Americans who happen to have a lot of money. They are allowed to give money to whatever cause they feel appropriate. There's a big difference between money from an individual and money from a corporation. Companies generally don't donate money unless they believe it will benefit their bottom line.

Those of us who have to pay taxes and don't get the rich tax credits always seem to listen to the celebs in people magazine and have some sense(nonsense) that the Democrats are using those republican tax breaks to fight for us

The goody bag is a thank you gift. For helping host the shows. You think most celebrates are going to go up on stage for nothing? Should you start paying taxes on gifts that you recieve from work?
You are comparing apples with oranges. The democrats are not the one giving them the goody bad. They are not giving the democrats the goody bag.
Apples and Oranges.

No, it is ok to accept support. What I find funny is that some celebs actually think the Dems are for helping the poor.
Of course people like Rosie O'Donnell know better. She is in the group that believes it is the Governments job to give to the poor.

I have an idea of what you are saying but, it's not just liberals. Consider Arnold Schwarzenegger. He runs under a conservative blanket but probably has plenty of celebrity donors.

You statement is just another case for term limits.

Here is what is wrong with your statement. Its not only democrats who do it. Republicans do it too. You cant judge a few Republicans or democrats and come up with generalizations about them.. Let me tell you this. And i hope you remember it. Politicians are here to represent the people. Not themselves. So no, its not hypocritical.

Humanity is contradictory, and hypocritical, as if you didn't know.

Be it Democrap or Repukelican you both cater to the wealthy elite, the citizenry, majortiy of which is working class and poor, are "Represented" by the rich elite.....no matter what affiliation your prefer.

Greed is greed. Difference between a lib and con is a lib will use lubrication while a con will charge you for anally raping you.

Welcome to Americanized Democracy.

Everything Democrats say is hypocritical.
Everything they do is hypocritical.
When I was poor and on the Democrat Plantation, I used to believe them.
Then I discovered that they took all my pay raises with their tax increases.
Finally, I wised up and escaped them.
