I have seen limitless articles on Sasha Cohen and how she is cursed and she has some mental problem for why she cannot ever win the gold medal at the Olympics. I have had just about enough with people that criticize athletes that work so hard and since they don't make the gold for whatever reason, they get criticized by the United States by the country that is supposed to be supporting them no matter what in the Olympics. I am sorry, but that just seems really ignorant and childish to me especially if they have never had their experiences in life before. What would they know of the sport if they had never participitated in it before? Things just happen sometimes that people cannot control. You cannot always be perfect. Americans on television have to be so arrogant about their athletes that they can end up hurting their feelings. Obviously, they don't seem to care. That is rediculous!! I am sorry, but people have to understand that Americans are really strong in the Olympics.

I agree completely. I hate how people always complain about how people didn't win, or they did so bad on it when they got a medal. There are some times when I see it (ex. Lindsey Jacobelis and US Men's basketball team), but more often than not I can't believe that they are criticizing them. Getting a silver is a very good accomplishment, and only 2 people out of everyone in the world could get it ("technically"), so I don't see how that is too bad.

First of all I think Sasha Cohen is a great skater, and not just because she's my favorite. However we live in a time where people have little patience and tolerance for those who aren't number one. My favorite example is the Buffalo Bills. This football team went to the Super Bowl four years in a row (91-94). Making it to the Super Bowl is an honor but since they lost all four times most people consider them losers. Unfortunately this is how our society views sport. On the other hand Sasha Cohen and many athletes like her have been training and competing at a high level for a long time and know that being judged not only during competitions comes with the territory. So don't worry Sasha is strong so she will be alright.

PS... Don't pay too much attention to what you hear on TV, especially when it comes out of the mouths of commentators.

Dontcha just hate it whenever a medal is won it somehow belongs to the country and when that athlete does not win or something happens suddenly they are on their own or it's their fault, they are somehow disowned.
example.
Ben Johnson in 1988 suddenly became that Jamaican(stupid immigrant) after he was stripped of the medal, before he was the great CDN hope

yeah, i love sasha!!! i guess maybe her nerves get to her at really big competitions, but she's a really great skater. she has wonderful artistry that keeps her on the podium even if she doesn't get gold when she falls on her jumps.....
