There are a few reasons. One is that people think that the more a person makes, the better the person they are. Which, if people were smart, would know that's not true. Other people look for financial security. Unfortunately, alot of people look past what real love and romance is all about and only look at $$$.

most people grew up poor or at least sort of poor so they think money equals love, or at least trying to make it that way. Almost nobody gets enough love when they are little so they try to get money, things, whatever to compensate.

I bought a few candy bars for my Mom this year. She would like them. My wife says NO, its not enough to give your Mom. Whatever. She has money and means well. My Mom is rich and can buy anything she wants. I guess my wife is too. I'm not gonna worry about it.

I loved for actual love. The man I was with was dead broke and he didn't work. I have never loved for money. Wish I had, he left me and broke my heart and I wish I would have never fallen in love!
