i think so. i think that people feel there superior because of there race or religious values or that people despise one another for there beliefs or race. i think no matter your race or religion we are all alike and we are no better than the next person.

There is, as people retrench to protect their values from what many see as an assault on them from "others"

There is some racial and religious tension, but most of it is perceived. If there was as much real basis for tension as is reported in the media, then we would all be killing each other to an extent that you can't even imagine.

We all feel superior (myself included) because that's a basic tenet of the human condition. Who is raised to believe that they're inferior or wrong, but still should continue with the life they have because "that's the way it's supposed to be". I can only think of the Hindus in the caste system, but I think that they got rid of it.

You know I have felt the same tensions, especially on here. Really when you give it some deep thought a lot of this is the fact that people need to covet something, feeling special, having special talents. On the other hand and maybe you'll agree, I see all of us coming together more closely because of all the outside foreign inputs. I certainly would not want to hurt your feelings if your foreign but if your in Rome, do as the Romans do, don't try to take over there empire. I know this did not answer your question but your not by yourself.

While the media would certainly have me agreeing with you (as well as some people on Answers here), my personal experience is completely opposite. Most of the people I know are very tolerant and respectful of other people's views. Most of the people I know are primarily interested in raising their families, protecting their civil liberties, and helping others in their community and around the world.

You are right - we are all alike. We are all super fantastic and deserve all that heaven and earth can provide us. But does that mean that if someone else does not claim their birthright as a beloved child of the Universe, then I am not allowed to either, for fear of being perceived as feeling superior?

Peace!

I believe that it's not just more tension, it is more intolerance. When being politically correct started out, it was a reminder for people to be aware of other races, beliefs, or cultures. Now, since it is a given that everyone is supposed to be politically correct, if someone says something that they feel is derogatory, they feel they have the right to unleash hate and bigotry against the offender. It just seems out of control now.

Yes it is true what you are saying and i completely agree with you and sooooo would every other human being

It's all part of your human mindset
Because of the way the mind works it won't think of a person equal to you when they are smarter than you so therefore you might be a little mean to them therefore ending having them branded nerd or geek now that is a bit racist

Some people just from the slightest experiences assume some of the strangest thing because i met someone who had only driven behind an Asian who was driving way below the speed limit he now thinks ALL Asians drive slow

another one i heard people say is all surfer dudes are blond

Every ones a little bit racist

you can't avoid it

you can try to help reduce it

Yes, there is, because many people think their race is so important, or their religion is the right one and everyone else should stifle their beliefs.

i think it depends where you live. I live in Laredo, TX where most of us are latinos, mexican nationals, or at least hispanic, and things are pretty calm here. At the same time, we are missing out on the value of diversity other people get to experience so when we leave home and go north, we're "shocked" at the "racism" and "liberalism"

It's sad really

There are only stupid people to not know the teaching of Jesus to love one another. Dose it matter what religion you are. Or what color you are. You love the sinner hate the sin.

i agree with you. i am Catholic a lot and get bothered and told my beliefs are bad ones. i feel small and alone sometimes because i am the only Catholic at my school who gets picked on because strongly i believe in MY God, but it shouldn't make a difference on what people think about you.
