I think you are mixing up services.

Yahoo checks letters and mails for virus. But it does not check YOUR computer for viruses you may pick up while surfing the web.

NORTON or McAFEE or something like that is a PERSONAL virus and firewall system. If you have it, you have it.. but if you have never installed it then you do not have virus protection.

If you have it and you are getting the warning, then it may be as simple as turning it on... Installation does not automatically turn it on until after you finish the installation and configuration process.

hope that helps... in todays world you need a PERSONAL system (virus AND firewall)..plus a spy catcher and a popup blocker (windows now does that).

if you don't then your letterrs ana meadssags staralkt to geet al garbldedd upppp nearl th eend o youraa o letarssskwe.

(just messing with you)

When you are trying to send a file or email yahoo will
scan it and make sure it does not contains a virus.

If yahoo Norton 2007 virus has detected a virus then your
files or emails might have been compromised.

Please run several antivirus and trojan removers before claiming
you don't have a virus :

Run AVG free edition
Run The Cleaner 4.1( 1 free month trial)
Run from Norton online(free) and scan your PC

I am sure you have a bug.

Joe.

Yahoo is just a web-site. It cannot tell if your computer has a virus. And your computer cannot tell you either, only an anti-virus program can, I suggest that you do both of these if you think your PC is infected:

1. Scan for virus and remove (free online scan) with BitDefender

http://www.bitdefender.com/site/home/

2. Scan for trojans and remove (free online scan) with Ewido

Yahoo thinks it wont work probably because of anti-virus protection, but this may be Yahoo suggesting without checking your PC.

Good question, what's up? Yahoo does not furnish antivirus protection. If you have not installed it on your computer, then you don't have it, and that's a very risky thing to be without, these days.

if you have no anti-virus program installed than you need to get one.
yahoo only scans emails, and does not provide other anti-virus protection i.e. web surfing etc..
