A line is a line. Even if it's faint.

However, sometimes what you see is called an 'evaporation line'. I doubt anyone else will mention this because it's commonly thought that you only see that if you look at the test much later. But with some brands, an evaporation line can become visible immediately (if it is poorly assembled and allows air to leak in).

Was the line grey, or was it pink or blue (as it should have been)? If it was grey, or you can't tell (because of the faintness), does it look like an indentation on the test, or is it smooth with the surrounding white area? If it looked like an indentation, that is not a positive result.

However, you should assume you're pregnant for now and retest in a couple of days with another brand. It's not often that an evaporation line will show right after you take a test, but since it was SO faint, I'd consider that to be a possibility. The next test will likely come out positive and be a little darker (easier to see) since the hCG has increased. Congratulations!

You are pregnant - congratulations! A faint reading is enough. If you did another test in a few days you would see a stronger reading. The reading is faint because you're early on in your pregnancy and it's only the first day of a missed period.
In terms of what to do, look after yourself, cut out any alcohol you drink and eat well. You can get in touch with your doctor or the local midwives, but your doctor won't want to see you just because you are pregnant. You can make an apointment with the midwives, which takes place when you are 10 weeks, so about 6 weeks time.

hello there,
When you see the faint line that appear within 5 min when you take the test mean you are pregnant! The important thing you need to known is read the result within five min because if the line appear after 5 min then it might be false positive. The next thing you need to do is call your OB doctor to make appointment to confirm your pregnancy and start prenental vitamin ASAP. Try to take good care of yourself, do not lift up heavy thing or reach up high because it may lead to miscarry. Try to rest as much as possible and eat more because you need energy and food for two now. You will be sleepy and very tired for the first three months then you will feel better after that. Take good care of your self, congratulation, good luck and have a nice day!

Hi ya, well generally a faint line does indicate pregnancy, i think that you should buy another hpt, first resonse is pretty good, and do it when you wake up first in the morning again, it may show a brighter line as you are more 'late' and more increased in the pregnany hormone.
The same happend to my sister she had a very faint line, the next day she did a test in the morning, first thing, and the line came out brighter. Its always to do a secondry test to ensure that the first hpt wasnt damaged in any way.

If it you have another hpt with another faint line i suggest you go to your doctor.

Hope this helps and good luck......(I came off the pill two months ago, fingers crossed to us both!)

Any positive line in a pregnancy test means you are pregnant no matter how faint it is. THe faintness just shows that you are not very far along and there is not much hormone there.
You should book an appointment with your doctor to confirm and congratulations!

If you are pregnant, a second test in a few days should be more clear. Not everyone tests positive right away though. Tender breasts can mean pregnancy or period. Cramps could also be butterflies. :] If your test is not conclusive in a few days and you still haven't started your period, check with a free clinic or your health care provider.

if you got a very faint line its probably true that you may be pregnant, but wait a few more days and do another test just to be sure, if you get the same result or even a better line you then should book an appointment with your doctor

that is going to take time to settle back right into a common development- i got here off my pill in december and had a easy bleed right away after the packet ran out then not something for yet another 2 and slightly months. Now my cycle is longer than prevalent yet my physician assures me that's prevalent and it could take in to a 365 days to get to the variety you was. good success
