I have a washer and dryer (the washer leaks), a big blue rocking chair, and a compact dryer that we had before we found a full size one. I also have a futon that I just want to throw away, it's been sitting in my basement for a year and it's not useable.

Thank you for all the answers and to the one guy, what did I ever do to you? Geez, some people can be so rude.

Also, I forgot to mention, I don't have a truck, so I have no way of transporting all that stuff to a donation site, anyone know if they do pickups? I'll gladly donate it, I just have no way of getting the things there.

Call Goodwill. They will schedule a pick-up time and come get the things that are still usable. You can write off the donation on your taxes.

The futon is unusable, so just toss it in your dumpster.

Have you considered having a Garage Sale....If things are in really good condition you could make some money off of them. Or take them to Good Will this time of year that is a great thing to do! You could help someone out. Keep your receipt if you are tax write off kind of person and you can get some money back at the end of the year as well! :)

The things that are useable or easily fixable you can donate, usually for a tax write off, take the rest to the dump.

Try listing the items on-line in Craig's list under free items listing. There is no charge for the listing. You know the old saying, "one mans trash is an others treasure"

Contact your local battered women's shelter. They're always in need of things like that (for setting up displaced women wanting to start over)..
