My 7 month old is running a high fever and I can only get it down to 99 till it goes shooting back up again. The doctor is aware, put her on an antibotic, but shes still not eating or peeing, should I be more agrrisive with her doctor to get something done?

How long has she had the fever and how long has she been on the antibiotic?

As long as the fever doesn't last for more than 3 or so days and isn't running really high she will be fine. If your daughter has been on the antibiotic for more than a couple of days and still is running a fever then she either doesn't need an antibiotic for what she has (it must be viral) or the antibiotic is not strong enough for what she has, but more than likely it is because of a viral infection.

Try to give her as much liquid as you can - extra feedings of breast milk or formula you can lay off the solids at this time and just stick with the liquids (at this time solids are more for learning than nutrition anyway).

You need to have at least one wet diaper in a 6-8 hour period otherwise you need to see the doctor again. Babies can become easily dehydrated. When in doubt call the doctor.

Good luck and happy holidays!

The not peeing is not a good sign. She may not feel like eating, but do make sure you offer cold boiled water. That might help bring the fever down as well. If she can't wee she will have trouble sweating. Fevers are often periodic.

If in doubt, get her to A&E.

The fact that she is not peeing is very serious. Little ones cannot tell us what is wrong so it is a guessing game- so yes, if you feel like it is bad- you should be more assertive with the Dr. A baby that age does not take much to become severely dehydrated. Trust your instincts.

I would say keep giving her water and meds.
And give it a day.
Antibotics takes a full 24 hours to kick in

Can you get her to drink anything? When my son was 2 months old he got the flu and his doctor told me to only give him Pedialyte. The electrolytes will aid with brain development while they are sick and cannot eat.
