Here we say that people can have only two of three characteristics:

If you're smart and honest, you can't be Chavista
If you're Chavista and Honest, you can't be smart
If you're Smart and Chavista, you can't be honest.
(a Chavista is a supporter of president Chavez)

Don't you think that this is almost universally apliable (sadly)? I can think of one case in particular...

It's true. I know a lot of Venezuelans. They're smart and honest and DEFINITELY NOT Chavista's.

I don't know if the saying is universal but it could certainly be applied to some North American countries.

And I'll bet the Chavistas say the same about the non-Chavistas.
