OK, anyway. Linear means in a line. There's starting and ending points. Like the clotting cascade. It is irreversible.
A cyclical reaction is a continuous one. Like the Krebbs energy cycle.

A linear pathway starts with one substance and converts that into something different. to illustrate, glycolysis starts with glucose and ends with the formation of two pyruvate molecules (plus another stuff). A cyclic pathway starts and ends with an same element. So, the citric acid cycle (Krebs' cycle or TCA cycle) starts with oxaloacetate (plus acetyl-CoA) and ends lower back with oxaloacetate.
