Call the county courthouse where you got the ticket and ask them IF you have a warrant and what you can do to get rid of it. Pay a fine or whatever, its way better than getting arrested at the airport

You'll be run through NCIC if you leave the country, simple as that. The warrant will come up and it may or may not give you problems coming and going from the US.

I ain't an attorney, just a paralegal, freethinking American. If the local jurisidiction is small enough, a phone call and payment of a fine may take care of it....but you never know today. If it is intrastate travel in the US, I don't think there'll be a problem, but I don't make any promises.

Good luck.

they don't generally check your ID for warrants at the airport. but if you get pulled over for whatever reason, you will go to jail. Unless you have a federal warrant out for your arrest, they don't check you at the airport.
and just because you don't live in the area where you commited the crime, is not an excuse to leave the area without taking care of the issue. good luck in jail. tell 400 lb Tiny I said hi.

If you are still in New Jersey you can expect a surprise. If you are in another state you are prob. ok unless this affects your passport application.

Keep in mind if you ever get pulled over in NJ you could be hauled off. You will not get a ticket because your previous actions show that you will be unlikley to show up.

Its no big stigma... call up the court and square it up. A couple of bucks and you won't have to hide your face at the post office.

Any time you have a warrant you risk getting picked up especially in places such as airports, courts, or any governmental office. Due to the fact that you never appeared, I would want to clear it up first. Depending on what level of misdemeanor it is, you may not even get jail time. Check on the level and amount of jail time for that offense. If no jail time at all (like on a misdemeanor 4) you may be able to go in and clear it up with one hearing and most courts will allow you to just show up on certain days to clear them up. Check with that particular court. Good-luck!
