Better yet, being we all know that communism does not really exist
how about a country where capitalism worked!

True communism has never existed. Even the Soviets who practiced a form of communism admitted they had not achieved true communism before their society collapsed. China is a country run by a small group without the vote or consent of the masses. it is always more efficient to control things with fewer people having a say rather than the majority voting. Cuba is a very poor example of an efficient country and they are starving and in poverty. Communism even in small communities fail because eventually the government runs out of other people's money to give to the people who refuse to work. When the majority no longer produce the working minority can no longer support them.

Only if you name on country were capitalism has "worked".O yeah I forgot humanity doesn't determine anything,it's all in the economy .
Half the world — nearly three billion people — live on less than two dollars a day.
The GDP (Gross Domestic Product) of the poorest 48 nations (i.e. a quarter of the world’s countries) is less than the wealth of the world’s three richest people combined.
Nearly a billion people entered the 21st century unable to read a book or sign their names.
Less than one per cent of what the world spent every year on weapons was needed to put every child into school by the year 2000 and yet it didn’t happen.
1 billion children live in poverty (1 in 2 children in the world). 640 million live without adequate shelter, 400 million have no access to safe water, 270 million have no access to health services. 10.6 million died in 2003 before they reached the age of 5 (or roughly 29,000 children per day).
Poverty is the state for the majority of the world’s people and nations. Why is this? Is it enough to blame poor people for their own predicament? Have they been lazy, made poor decisions, and been solely responsible for their plight? What about their government? Have they pursued policies that actually harm successful development? Such causes of poverty and inequality are no doubt real. But often less discussed are deeper and more global causes of poverty.

Behind the increasing interconnectedness promised by globalization, are global decisions, policies, and practices. These are typically influenced, driven, or formulated by the rich and powerful. These can be leaders of rich countries or other global actors such as multinational corporations, institutions, and influential people.

In the face of such enormous external influence, the governments of poor nations and their people are often powerless. As a result, in the global context, a few get wealthy while the majority struggle

Name of the country was Yugoslavia. Their socialism relay worked when president Tito was alive. Everybody had Chance to work, government provided apartments to almost everybody and all medical services was for free to all population. Country was not so reach but all people had a same chance to live without fear for tomorrow. Finally three most important things in human life are job, accommodation and health insurance and all of them were provided by government. Unfortunately after Tito died country turned in different direction and finally crashed in 1990.
Golden age was late 70's and early 80's

No one has ever progressed past socialism.

Communism requires the *people* to decide that they want a classes, egoless society. That's when the 'scales fall from their eyes'.

Socialism is the period between Capitalism and Communism, where there is a single ruler setting up a system so that communism can thrive.

Even the USSR recognized the fact - United Soviet Socialist Republic.

China is not communist, nor is Cuba.

So to answer your question, name one country that actually was ever communist, or made a strong attempt at doing so?

yes, i think just about the whole world agrees Communism doesn't work! "work" is a pretty general term but none have been sucessful. China is growing well but they have become less communist and they even have free market now, which is probably the cause of the growth.

and a note to farkas419: China, as i have said, is not really communist anymore and it is growing faster than the U.S. has ever grown. so next time you would do well to learn more before making comments like that.

Cuba...!!! DEFINITELY...!!!

A tiny country, but with the best Health-Care, Literacy and Education standards in the developing world - (not to mention better than many in the developed West too...!)

And all achieved DESPITE the USA's determined hostility and relentlessly crippling sanctions aimed at its distabilization - INCLUDING Washington's repeated attempts to assassinate Cuba's great leader (Castro)...!!!

CUBA - YOU ARE MAGNIFICENT...!!!

It is mostly thought that communism works best with small numbers of people. Many Native American Tribes sort of had communism. And it worked surprisingly well for them.

It depends on what you mean by works. China is doing well, though they have recently combined capitalism to the mix, now they can buy and sell us. I don't know if it works, but they sure seems to be winning.
