yes..I was complaining to my sis in law about getting my son to school late .. and told her "I had to wait for 15 mins. just to get a tardy slip!"...but then i started giggling, she looked at me like i was insane..i just shook my head and said "tardy..heee heee..what a stupid sounding word" then continued to laugh....she agreed w' me on the word...but i think she thinks i'm nuts now. o well..u can't win em' all ..lol

Yes I love the word!

I use it in conversation but secretly I'm thinking of Bart Simpson writing lines on the board for being tardy

Yes....with my boss as she was telling me that I'm tardy all the time and if I don't start getting my a.s.s to work on time i'm not gonna have a job....so if u think it's not used in a serious convo...start being tardy to work and see if ur boss and u don't use it in a serious conversation.

no, and I am 68 years old! Old fashioned schoolmasters used to use it a lot. "Tardy, boy! go to the headmaster at once!" Then you might get the cane on your hand or a worse place if you did not have a good reason for being late.
