If it is a persuasive speech, first find out who your audience is and "listen to them". When I say listen to them I mean, figure out who they are. What age group are they? What type of people are they? Then figure out what the time limit on the speech is and DO NOT go over that time limit no matter what. In terms of a persuasive speech there must always be a call to action. You must get the audience involved with your speech. You can do this by creating an "audience-centered" speech. By this I mean that you should figure out why you can say about saving money which will cause them to want to save money, and then in the final bit you want to tell them why it is essential to them that they should save money.

So when you outline your speech, this is how you should format it:
1) Identify the problem - Let the audience know that there is a problem, identify it for them.
2) Tell the audience how this problem affects them. You can do this many different ways. I find that the best way is through a story, mainly because every effective speech should have a story that truly illustrates the problem in a way that is easy to understand.
3) Show the audience how they can solve this problem.

Whatever you do, do not give factual information such as statistics and such. This is a good way to make the audience very bored. Try to get them involved in your speech and as I said before, if you can try to tell a story.

I took a class in Public Speaking, so if you need me to elaborate send me a message.

I take my final in a couple days for my speech class. Start it off with telling how you came to realize that it is important to save money. Tell a story so they can see how you came to this conclusion.
