Find a topic or topics that are interesting to both of you.
Examples: hobbies, animals, philosophy, favorite colors/songs, favorite movies - what does your partner like or not like about them?
QUESTIONS are more important in conversation than answers.
By asking questions, you get two benefits:
a) interesting conversation
b) deeper insight into your partner's dreams, desires, preferences or even turn-offs.

The best way to keep conversation alive in a relationship is to...listen and also when you ask an average question (How was your day today?)...really listen...you know make eye contact. this way it won't seem like you are only going through the motions.
Listening is really the greatest skill in keeping a conversation with any one. It gives you credibility..and you won't seem insincere.

I like telling my husband some of the jokes and funny emails I receive and laughing together. I make it a point to say something very sweet and affectionate every day and try to think of something different. Being an interesting person helps, so keep up with current events. And the most important point is to be truly interested in your life and in him. Listen to him and ask questions.

You both have full lives, there should be plenty to talk about, even after years. the past, childhood experiences, the funny thing that happened at work today, how my kid really drove me nuts yesterday, hopes for the future, dreams, fantasies. you can share stories about the most embarrassing thing to ever happen to you, the actor/actress you had a crush on when you were ten. even after years you probably havent learned all there is to know about him, nor he about you. There should be plenty of stuff left to talk about. Theres nothing wrong with talking about your day to day life, job, kids, laundry shopping, he goes through it too. Its common ground you share, it doesn't have to be boring.

well that should first start off in the person you're interested in. from the intial contact from one conversation you'll know if they got good conversation by the topics they talk about, how they respond to your comments, questions, thoughts, and if it keeps you the listener interested in more that they have to say!

constant comedy, nothing in this world succeeds like a full genuine rolling belly laugh. it uses the same nerve endings as fear sex and anger, powerful stuff if used properly.
