Here's some problems with working at trendy clothing stores. First, you usually have to wear current, in-stock fashions, and you don't get more than a 50% discount. As fast as the stock changes, you end up spending most of your paycheck at work. Second, you will be helping advance a terrible industry. The quality of clothing at these places is lower than the cheap stuff you get at K-Mart. People are only paying for the name. My sister-in-law bought a skirt at Abercrombie & Fitch that the only way you could tell it wasn't the same as a cheaper one was the little metal tab on a back pocket!

I would have said American Eagle, because I love their clothes, and to work at clothes stores you have to wear some of their clothes to work in, but if it is a dream of yours to model for Abercrombie, then work at Abercrombie and Fitch. You might be closer to influential people who could help you out later. Just be careful- they always have music blasting so loud that it gives me a headache just to be in there for a few minutes!

Well, this really is a dilemma. You see, I dislike all three of these stores because I think their clothing is unimaginative and overpriced. But I can respect that you like their merchandise and would like to work someplace where you can get it at a discount and be the first to grab all the new gear. I'd say work at the place with the best clothes, but since it's all the same stuff that doesn't quite work. You can try picking the place with the best employee discount or (this is my favorite option) the cutest male employees. That way, you can get the clothes you want, at the price you want, and wear them on a date with your new co-worker. Another thing to think about: How does the store smell? Everytime I go past A&F I walk past as quickly as possible because the store absolutely *reeks* of whatever cologne they're selling in there. So, do you want to get off work smelling like someone broke a bottle of cologne in your closet? Just something to think about.

Well, to work at Abercrombie or any of the other stores, you need to always wear the brand, and since you already have lots of AERO! I personally like American Eagle better then AERO! And I like A&F too! BUT if you are gonna wrok at any of them you gotta have like a closet full of their clothing!!

if u want a job because of the money, don't work at any of those places. i'm actually a model at abercrombie and they pay minimum wage bc thy know ppl are still willing to work there.
discount is 30% off retail price only.
the only valid reasons for working at a&f are 1. the discount (which isn't that good) and 2. the satisfaction of being cool

I agree with RyRy. I used to work at Old Navy and only got paid $8.25, and I was doing work that a lot of managers and supervisors would normally do. It wasn't worth it for the amount I was doing and any store in a mall or strip-mall is going to be the same. They have a store to pay for in an expensive mall, they pay that first, then they pay you.
Also...a store isn't going to hire you just because you love their clothes. You have to want to work their because you like helping customers and yadda yadda yadda. Try setting your goals a little higher like an Administrative Assistant, or apply as a waitress where you can get tips.

This is to Totally wasn't me, below...It is true you have to have some of that store merchandise, but only if you're going to be wearing it while you're working. Old Navy was exactly like this, as was Gap and many other stores. Since I used to work at ON I would know these things and most chain clothing stores with a label all do the same. But here's what it boils down to...You can wear their brand in their store yes, because you work there. You cannot wear another brand of a similar store, like if you worked at A&F and wore a Hollister shirt...they wouldn't allow it because it's conflicting with their business, so they'd want you to wear one of their shirts instead. It's all about promoting business. They don't say you have to wear their label of where ever you're working on a daily basis, you can wear regular clothes, but if you have a label it'd better be theirs or they won't allow it.

honestly, a&f has a rep for only hiring hot ppl, so if ur looking 4 nd image boost, go there. AE has a cozy, friendly atmosphere between the coworkers and the workers there alays seem to be enjoying themselves more than the other olaces. aero is kinda messy-ish so that makes more work 4 u.

I heard that Aero was originally made as a Christian clothes company. They make clothes that cover up bodies but still look nice. That might be a positive thing.

1) Abercrombie is racist. Haven't you seen that shirt where is says, 2 wongs don't make a white? (wong is supposedly a chinese last name [I'm Chinese and proud of it!] and there's like a laundry service). It's overpriced and their clothes are really thin, though comfortable. Been there done that.
2) ae is okay, better than abercrombie.
3) I prefer Aero out of all of them.
