Were you doing what i thing you were doing??? It is indeed a problem, lots of old ladys are in M&S and you would have given them a heart attack if they'ed seen you!
I think you were asked to leave because that's not really the thing you should be doing in a Marks and Sparks changeing room. why not try the ones in Next? There aren't so many old ladys there!

You were supposed to be putting it on not having it off.......both involve a lot of grunting and panting if neither fit so of course the sales person thought you needed help and thus you were found out. Thou shalt not break the eleventh commandment.
