The key ways that the Catholics defended their faith that come to my mind are violence and intimidation. The Thirty Years' War, and countless other religious wars were all fought to defend the faith and to prevent the growth of protestantism. How about the Spanish Inquisition and all of the other incidents of torture for those who would not swear allegiance to the Catholic church? ALso there was the constant threat of excommunication and your soul burning in hell for eternity if you switched sides. And don't forget, the average person during the time was not literate and had few outlets for making educated decisions. You were supposed to do what the church told you to and boy would you pay for changing teams! The church lined the pockets of local rulers and could eally make life uncomfortable for heathens. They were an all around pretty wonderful bunch!

Well, it's nice to see someone admitting that this is homework, though what is an "FRQ?" I suggest going to Wikpedia and reading about the reformation first to get some background. Then, Google "how did Catholics defend their faith against the Protestant reformation?" and see what you find. I have found that Googling the question I have helps me find more info than I expect. Good luck!

oh my god..if you are going to ask a question that involves thought like Catholics vs. Protestants and defending their respective faiths, at least have the brains to type out the words "the" and "their"

And yes, I'm familiar with AP history. Someone who used "da" instead of "the" is not going to pass that test.
