my family was living in a house in maryland, then in May 2006 my mother acted like there was something mentally wrong with her and ended up in the hospital, then when she got out of the hospital she told my father that he had "aggreed to move out of (our) house and move in with his mother", so the next day he moved in with his mother, then that night my mother went out and came back to the house with her crazy controlling friend from Troy, NY and just said we were just going to "move" to Troy, NY all in 1 day the next day, and my mother unplugged the phone and refused to let me call anyone. The next day they rented a moving truck and we could only take whatever would fit in the truck; we had to leave everything else. We moved to Troy, NY and my mother did not even tell my father or anyone else she was leaving. And I could not even say anything about it because her friend would complain nonstop and hit me and yell at me.

my mother and her friend drove me back to Maryland since I am in college at Bowie State University (and I can't drive), and I just had to stay with my father at his mother's house until I got into a dorm. Of course my mother's friend complained about not liking to travel and only coming along because she "had" to8-| WTF? And she yelled and complained, said she hated me, and threatened to kill me. But my brother is still staying there with them in Troy, NY because my mother acted like she would not allow him to stay in MD when she dropped me off even though he wanted to. This past Saturday my brother called me and said my mother is using his social security money to pay rent for the place where they are staying, when it is HIS money!!! So my mother is using HIS money for herself and her friend to stay there and to buy food!!! WTF???She can't do that. it is HIS money, not hers. What would she do about rent if he was not there? And he does not even want to be there. He wants to leave.

My brother said he wants to come back to Maryland, but he has no way to get down here with his belongings. I tried to call the department of social services for Troy, NY and ask them if maybe they could call over there or send someone over there to the address and see what is going on and arrange for someone to drive my brother down here, maybe in a truck or a van for his belongings. But whenever I call the department of social services no one answers. Also, my mother's friend usually just seems to act normal and nice unless she is complaining or yelling or threatening, so she might just act like that if someone comes over there to make it seem like there is nothing wrong with her...but the bottom line is my mother is using HIS check, and being an adult he should not have to be living like that. It is HIS money and HE should be getting it, not my mother. So does anyone know what I can do or who I can call so my brother can leave there with his belongings and come back to Maryland?

Call social services! That's not right at all, they should be able to do something.
