My children took at least 2 naps during the day. I know all babies are different, but for such a young baby, this seems odd. He usually sleeps 3 to 4 hours at a stretch at night, which seems normal.

Baby swings or driving in a carseat will sometimes help. There are some homeopathic soothing pills too that people use that can help sometimes.

Might wanna check on the way she's feeding the baby too. Without a full stomach they are not likely to sleep as or even want to sleep, equally with collic they also won't sleep well.

Her baby should sleep more in the day at that age but active babies do have troubles with that at times and that is normal for an active baby what she can do is learn what slows down her active baby and use those tecqniques before putting the baby to sleep..it could be soft music being wrapped up and cuddled rocked to calm down a bath and then putting the baby somewhere quiet to sleep. The baby is probably very stimulated otherwise and finds it hard to sleep. My baby is also very active and what helps with her is wrapping her up and covering her face lightely with the blanket..i dont leave her unattended like that but i check shes breathing and she usually falls esleep no problems like that.

btw in response to someone who said you cant force your baby to sleep. you shouldnt force the baby to sleep thats not possible but you can surely train the baby to sleep, I know because ive trained mine to sleep because sleep is important for growth and she sleeps nine hours a night on top of napping 50 percent of the day aswell. I did this by calming her down before sleeping and giving her the least amount of attention at night when she would wake up ( i did not let her cry it out ever either)

My daughter was the same way. I would get to bed during the day but she would only sleep like 20 minutes at a time and at night she would sleep the whole night without waking up at 6 in the morning.

carry in there. it ought to nicely be complicated once you're short on sleep and your lower back hurts besides. I somewhat have a 5 month old besides that I breastfeed. My infant has continually slept for lengthy stretches at nighttime yet for a lengthy time period did no longer have miraculous sunlight hours sound asleep. I strongly recommend use of a the front %.. that's somewhat tranquilizing/calming to the infant and the rocking simulates the womb surroundings. If she outgrows a the front %. you need to get another type of %.. My infant is at the moment 17 lbs, and that i visit in problem-free words use the %. till she is 20 lbs.. purely getting out of the abode with infant - to the mall or to the food market is large too, toddlers change into bored too and choose new surroundings. keep responding on your daughter and in no way let her "cry it out". this technique does no longer artwork and in problem-free words harms the infant physiologically. also carry your infant as a lot as achievable as that's severe to bonding. yet another element is about feeding your daughter. be certain to are feeding her adequate in the course of the day. I breastfeed an complete hour good before infant's bedtime and that i rock her in a glider in her room. A bedtime recurring like studying 2 books, listening to mushy music, and so on is likewise very effectual. My lower back replaced into somewhat hurting besides (i replaced into in problem-free words dozing on my good and left area) so now i attempt to sleep a third of the time on my lower back. This somewhat helped plenty putting my lower back good, because it ought to nicely be tiring packing round a fifteen-18lb infant!

she should look at how much sugar or food the baby is intaking before "naptime'. stop feeding the child at a certain point of the day so the baby will have finished digesting his food and/or come down from a sugar spike which may be keeping him awake. she should also try to provide a quiet, warm area where the baby can relax, and not hope for the child to fall asleep in the middle of a lot of activity or distractions.

I know that this isn't an instant fix, but my friends and I all swear by the advice given in the book "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child." I'd strongly recommend to read it. The advice in it works like a miracle if you follow it.

There's not much she can do - you can't force baby to nap if it doesn't want to. Learn to deal with it.
