ya as a football player i sprain my ankle all the time.
but the key to how long it takes to recover is how bad the sprain is.
the best treatment for any sprain is simple stretches.
by rotating and bending your ankle with out any pressure u can start loosening the muscles and speed up the recovery.
pending on how often u do the exercises and how often u ice it you could recover anywhere between 3days and 5weeks

A sprained ankle can take from 2 weeks to 2 months to feel completely healthy again. Some sprains will actually take longer than a broken ankle to heel. This is all dependant on how bad you twisted and pulled the tendons and ligaments in your ankle. There are 2 very important steps to recovering quickly and fully from a sprained ankle.
****If your ankle is in extreme pain, you should consult a doctor immediately. Do not hesitate, the more your ankle swells the harder it is going to be to diagnose what exactly is sprained in your ankle.
First- immediately after spraining your ankle you need to elevate your ankle above your heart to keep from blood rushing to it. You should also put ice on your ankle as soon and as much as possible within the first 48 hours. I have found that filling a bucket with alot of ice and water allows for the best coverage of your ankle. Put your ankle in the bucket for about 15 mins and the elevate it out of the bucket for 15 mins. Do this as much as possible for the 48 hours. It is very important to ice your ankle to reduce the amount of swelling.
Second- Rehabilitation. As much as possible (pain permitting) you need to rebuild your damaged ankle. After the first 48 hours of resting and icing your ankle you should start slowing exercising your ankle. At first, just simply pull your toes towards you and then push away. Then side to side. Then a circular motion. This is very important to do early on after the sprain, it will insure that you do not loose mobility of your ankle. After you are starting to have less pain, it would be good to do toe raises. Just stand on both feet and the lift yourself up so you are standing on your toes. Last it is very important to wear an ankle brace while you ankle is weak.
Hopefully this was helpful. Good luck!

Yeah, I got the same thing. I skateboard, so it tends to happen a lot. It really all depends on how hard you sprained it.
If your in the same position as I am in right now, it's easy to walk, but if you move your ankle to the right or left a certain amount it starts to hurt a little bit.
For it to FULLY recover it could take till new years. I wouldnt worry about it too much unless you run, skateboard, play soccer, or any other sports.
If you do..
just try to buy something for it.
They selll things that fit around your ankle and foot. They're like an ace bandage. They're all elasticy, and they keep it so it heals a bit faster
i hope i helped

I badly sprained my ankle about 3 weeks ago. I was in a hurry going down the stairs, lost my balance and landed on a bad side of my left foot, causing my left ankle to be stretched going on the inside. The first 48 hours were excruciating and the pain was un-believable. I've never had a serious ankle injury before.
So I immediately treated it using the RICE method. The following day, the bruising and swelling were so horrible. I found out that I got a second degree sprain and immediately panicked after that. I had a football game on that week and it been looking forward to it because I've been training for rt. I had teammates that had similar injuries and it took them months to fully recover, some of them stopped playing altogether. So I kinda had a short-term depression because I can't imagine myself not being able to run and play sports anymore.
Because I was so desperate to recover again, I contacted a lot of people that I know who do sports and asked them if they had similar injuries. One friend of mine, from the boy's football team in my university, told me about H.E.M. Ankle Rehab. I got a copy 4 days after I got injured. I immediately read and followed what was instructed and felt improvement on the first day. I was able to walk a bit, but I was in pain.
A couple of days after that, the swelling and bruising were subsid-ing significantly and on the fourth day, I was walking comfortably again. Although I've had felt a bit of stiffness, I continued doing what was instructed. My sister was surprised that I have recovered this fast. I told her about this book and was shocked on how effective the procedures were. I'm just so happy that this book was shared to me and how effective it is.
Heal your ankle fully & fast?

Can take anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 months. Depends on how bad the sprain was. Ice it a lot and keep it elevated and that might make the recovery time less.

walking or standing on it at all just prolongs the healing.
100% off of the sprain and it will heal in 2 weeks. Each step you take on it just extends the healing process.

Impossible to tell! The more severe the injury the longer it will take to fully heal. See if you can get some physio to help the healing process along...;

The pain should be gone within the next two weeks, however you need to be careful for the next month or so to avoid repeating the injury
