It seems that men can more easily move on to new relationships after break ups . Women seem to want to keep trying with the old relationship. Do you think this is true?

The reasons it's often easier for a man to move after a relationship ends are pretty simple. Number one is simply DNA, the way the human animal has evolved over millions of years. It's nature's way of ensuring the survival of the species. Men can physically participate in the birth of literally hundreds of babies in the same time span that a woman can create one or two. Women developed the desire to have a deeper attachment to their mate so they would have someone take care of them and provide for their baby while they were not functioning at full speed. I'm talking about cave man days so don't slam me for being a sexist. These tendancies that have been hardwired into us by millions of years of evolution are still with us even though our roles have changed so much.

Another reason men move on faster and easier is our culture. Men are given positive feedback for jumping from relationship to relationship while women who do the same thing are often looked down upon.

No I don't find this to be an accurate assumption, because it was just the opposite for me and my wife, she moved on in a matter of months after a 13 year marriage and I have yet to recover from it ,not to mention the numerous attempts I made to try to salvage the relationship but with all the negativity and outside influence in her life things didn't happen and or work out, it totally depends on personalities, and wanting to make things right.especially if children and time have been invested in the relationship.I didn't believe then and I still don't believe in just quitting and running away from our problems.but it takes two to make any relationship work.

I was always kind of like a guy ... lol. I found it easy to move on. Get rid of all evidence and move on with your life why waste your time over someone that isn't wasting they're time? It's too bad women have to be so emotional. BUT I've dated men who were more emotional than a woman having pms......I think it depends on the person. And for both male and female, sometimes there's just that person we can't get out of our head....

It is not true in my case... I move on swiftly and decisively.

However, a few guys I'd been involved with would not "move on" after our relatonship was over - I even had to file a restraining order a couple of times. I think it depends on the person and the situation, not the gender.

I think it's because of the status quo of our society. Men have always been brought up to believe in conquering things and being dominate. They're no different when it comes to relationships. They marry, have kids, feel as though they have conquered and then move on to the next conquest. I'm sure there's more to it:-)

Not all the time, but most men were raised to be tuff- and so don't let it show, so to speak and they move on for azz usually not to new love relationships. This comes from the mouth of my co-worker who just broke up with his woman.
