ok i have 1 and expecting (due christmas day!)
here is a list of foods they eat:
carrots
apples
tomatoes
clover
dandilion greens
grass
romain lettuce (iceburg give them the runs...not pretty lol)
olives
they NEED timothy hay (you can get it at walmart/target)
orange peels
and pretty much any other fruit w/ lots of vitimane C (no cherries or lemons!)
they need lots of vitimane C as they are like humans and dont produce it on their own.
the need a huge cage or at least 1 hour of free floor time each day. my piggie has a 3 storie 4 foot high cage
(cavycages.com)
they love cuttle time and dont stink but need their bedding changed very often.
they need untreated wood to chew on (i use branches from my apple tree)
for toys just any tube or empty box is enough to keep them busy for hours!
you can give them a bath once a month, just use baby soap or special piggie soap. just dont get it in their face
and their nails need to be clipped. clip right up to the blood line, just dont go over the line
good luck!

(p.s. if theres any thing i didnt cover that you want to know just mail me!)

There's way too much general information to really put it all down.
* Make sure you get a pair, and try to adopt from a local shelter or rescue.
* Do not buy a pet store cage. They are nothing besides glorified litterboxes.
* Research their diet carefully. They need a quality pellet like Oxbow, fresh vegetables daily, and unlimited amounts of hay.
* Don't use pine, cedar, or corn cob beddings, which are potentially dangerous to guinea pigs. Use aspen, carefresh, or potentially fleece.
* Line up a vet that knows guinea pigs. Many vets will "see" guinea pigs, but there are many common antibiotics that are dangerous to them, and it's important that they have experience with guinea pigs so that they do not harm them.
Read the following pages, and they'll tell you just about everything you need to know:
http://www.guinealynx.info - the best site in terms of dietary guides and medical problems.
http://www.guineapigcages.com - how to build a cage for your pig that's the correct size, and not a litterbox like pet store cages.
http://www.cavyspirit.com - lots of good general behavioral information.

We have 2 guinea pigs. A boy and a girl. Make sure they have a big enough cage and also buy them a hut to hide under. That is very important. They really need a hiding place to feel safe. Our guinea pigs are very nice and don' bite. Make sure you handle them alot so they get used to you. My guineas like fresh carrots and celery. My St. Bernard loves to snuffle our guinea pigs. She sniffs them and trys to catch them. She doesnt hurt them though. Have fun! They are great pets. PS> make sure you clean their cages at least once a week! Also, mine drink alot of water. Keep a close eye on the water bottle.

I have 2 guinea pigs and i love them! The thing is that they hate eachother... one of them is lazy and likes people, the other one is very hyper, jumpy and afraid of people, so the lazy one gets annoyed by the hyper one. Giunea pigs have VERY strong personalities, so if you are going to get 2 then try to see what there personalities are. Feed your guinea pigs lots of fruits and vegitables. My pigs especially like mini tomatoes, mini carrots, and lettuce.
Heres some good sites:

http://www.oginet.com/pgurney/index.html
just search on google...
Good luck!
