The world's oldest profession is SALES!
Everyone is always selling something. Whether is products, services or themselves. Also ideas, processes and systems are also sold and selling is simply a transfer of belief!

True but there Mama was selling herself before they came along. Therefore prostitution remains oldest.

According to the Bible, Adam (the first man) was put in the garden to care for it - so I suppose gardening might be a good answer...
