I found Rome a city of bricks and left it a city of marble. -Caesar Augustus

As the grand-nephew of Gaius Julius Caesar, Augustus had an interesting genealogy. The Julii Caesares claimed to be descendants of Venus through Iulus and Aeneas. The Julii also claimed descent from Jupiter, through Dardanus. Most if not all Romans claimed Mars as an ancestor.

Yes! The mythology of Ancient Rome is that they converted the Greek Gods and Goddesses and made Roman names for them and added more standards to each one.

Ancient Rome was built by geniuses. They took over other countries and instead of destroying those religions they began incorporating all of the gods/goddesses from the lands they took over, thus calming the people and quelling uprisings.

They might have been power hungry bullies at times but at least they didn't force people into their religion.
