where I can go to make some new friend ?!?

I am a college student. and it is kinda hard to make new friends. because I am pretty shy girl...and this year is my first year to live in USA. is there any place to meet new people ? (no chat room or bar )

this is kind of werd to give advice to a college person but whatever. just talk to someone who have the same interest as u .

Don't you have any friends from classes you can go out with, and meet people?
