Do you mean x^4 = 8?

If so then x = 4th root of 8 (= 8^(¼))
≈1.6818

Otherwise x = 8/4 = 2

Are you just multiplying x by 4? If so, to solve for x just multiply both sides by 1/4 to get x=2.

Your question must have meant something else. Is it because normally we'd write 4x? Multiplication is communitive and so you can write it either way.
