my english assignments is requiring me to read a novel (in this case: Frankenstein), write a question about it, and then write an essay that answers the question. I'm having trouble chosing a question to write about, so i was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what kinds of questions i could have or give an example of some sample essays about novels that you may have come across over the years. I just needs some ideas cuz i havn't done an essay responding to a literary work in some time now. Thanks!

I would use, "What modern movies follow Mary Shelly's fomula of writing Frankenstein?"

Then you can sight movies like Robocop and such and talk about how cool it is to be terrorized by a human creation gone wrong.

How about:

1) How does Shelley's treatment of the natural world vs man-made science pertain to the current debate on stem cell research and cloning?

2) Does the knowledge and power that come with deliverance of knowledge also bring incumbent responsibility of the creator? Use examples from mythology (Prometheus), Genesis (Adam and Eve), Shelley's F'in stein, development of the atom bomb.

3) Explain how Shelley's F'instein describes the general social anxiety at the beginning of the industrial age as man and society began using technology to solve all social problems. Compare and contrast this with Poe's "The Raven" and Rousseau's "The Social Contract"

It looks like your supposed to get the question from your thesis. First find a good thesis. For example: Frankenstein learned from his actions. Then support that.

Use Cliff notes for help. Your question could be, " Should man have the power to create life...?"

Good luck!
