about to change oil and have to add 1 different brand qt.

Yes. It's all oil. Having the same viscocity is ideal, but in a crunch, it's not absolutely necessary. Your oil pump won't care if 4 quarts are the recommended 5W30 and one quart is 10W30. When the car heats up, it will all be 30W.

Even if the weights and brands are different, new oil is better than old dirty oil. Don't worry about it, you can't hurt the engine by mixing oils.

you may substitute the type. yet confirm the grade is same that's stated in specification. in case you're no longer happy with producer's grade than you may attempt synthetic oil. it is not beneficial to combination all of this oil. Stick any one among those... For leveling you ought to to stick on the type and grade which you extra final...
