No. You can have bleeding, and spotting, but it's not your mentrual cycle.

It may appear to be a menstrual period during pregnancy, but it's something else. Periods are when the lining is being shed, this is the same lining that the baby implants itself onto. So, if there is a lot of blood, best bet is to go to the doctor.

I have known women who have had what seems like full fledged periods all the way through their pregnancies, however, it is not normal.

If you or someone you know is having one during pregnancy, going to the doctor is a must. My doc said that if I bleed longer than a normal period there could be something wrong. Don't take me wrong, it is common to have a lot of spotting through out the pregnancy, but keeping in close contact with your doctor is a good idea.

You can have spotting that seems like a menstrual period.... but the menstrual period is the shedding of the uterine wall and with a fetus there u wont have a period..... it could seem like it tho from the spotting.

yes, you can still have your mensrual period while you are pregnant. although it is very rare. the reason i know that you can is that my grandmas friend was pregnant (when they were younger...lol) and she had NO idea, because she had her regular period every month, at the right time, and regular flow. she also didnt gain any weight really, maybe just a few pounds, and she never showed. and one day she got these really bad cramps and couldnt figure out what they were. so she went to the hospital when they got unbareable, and she was told that she was pregnant and in labour. she didnt understand how seeing as she had her regular menstrual period EVERY month. so yes, although it is rare, it is possible.

Kellin D,
It's quite common to bleed and spot, but you will not have a cycle. It's really important to keep an eye on this and mention this to your doctor. Nice red in color is probably ok, but dark in color could indicate clotting and you certainly do not want that. Talk to your doctor about this, soon.

No, any bleeding while pregnant is not a period. If it is more than just light spotting you need to see the doctor.

you may have some spotting, but regular period bleeding is not good. That happened to me and I had a miscarriage. But I am sure that you just mean some occasional spotting which is COMPLETELY normal.

no, but if you are spotting or bleeding you need to report that information to the doctor. Because of miscarriage or any other serious risk the baby might be in.

I've heard that you can since some women don't even know they are pregnant until a couple of months later, but I don't know how true that is. I would check with a doctor.
