The Meaning of Unicorns~
I found many words written about unicorns, but I want to share the 'truth' that I found amongst them all. The way that I understand it, unicorns symbolize the spirit of purity, innocence, and childhood. Almost every traditional legend containing the unicorn states that only a young pure female could attract a unicorn to become visible and be of this reality. Even so, the legend of the unicorn combines male and female in one beast and therefore rich in the symbolism of opposites.

Unicorn means (with) One horn: "Unicornis". It was the name of a medieval beast not very well known and rarely seen. We could see some drawings but the photograph did not exist. It was white (or wide) it was a quadrupede and had one horn in the middle of the forehead. Now we know what it is because of photographs. We call it the "wide rhinoceros unicornis". It's constellation is called "Monoceros" where the Licorne or Unicorne is wading in the white river of stars called the Milky Way.

It was supposed to represent virginity but also fertility.
I think it was just a way to tell girls to stay virgin because only real men would be attracked to virgins.
