Some oddball things that could occur-
wet salts buildup across top of battery slowly discharges across terminals, wet hood pad hanging down on battery, jerry-rigged battery hold-down out of position.
If you take your battery to an auto parts store to have it checked, make sure they use a checker that pulls a strong load on the battery. Some defective batteries will have adequate voltage with no load, but can't supply enough current under load.
If your battery has an internal short, it will slowly discharge when it is left disconnected from the car.

Okay so there are a lot of factors that could result in a dead battery. But you shoudl start off by having the battery tested to see if it may have a dead cell in it, in which case it will not hold a charge. From there you need to check for things that were left on that could be draining power from said battery.
Good Luck

take your battery and alternator out and have them tested at the local auto parts store. They'll tell you which one is bad. Just replace it and you're on your way!
