Although most gay men I know tend to wear very fashionable trunks or briefs. Trunks (boxerbrief-type briefs) were actually popularize by gay men. There is definitely underwear that is aimed at gay men (and most of it is not thongs). Most gay guys probably do not wear lingerie (although some might) as it is women's underwear, and most gays are gay because they like men, not women.

Some do, and some don't. I'm one of the gay guys who doesn't wear that stuff.
You can also find a lot of straight men around who wear lingerie, although they may not admit it
