I will visit Sydney March 2007 for two weeks. Can anyone recommend a reliable tour operator with reasonable price from Sydney to Great Barrier Reef (Cairns) for a week?

You might want to try looking for an operator out of Cairns. There are tons that offer a wide variety of options. It will probably be much more economical to make your own way to Cairns via coach/air.

Will they take their remaining children with them or will they abdicate responsibility for their care whilst they go off on a wild goose chase in an attempt to assuage their guilt and grief over the death of their eldest daughter. They should concentrate on the children they still have.
