a "real" backpack is one that you would use when you go hiking, out on a camping trip, often with a metal "skeleton" for support, and is usually larger than a bookbag, which is usually smaller and used just for books...but a "bookbag" could be something as simple as a canvas bag with a drawstring....
A backpack could be a bookbag, but I don't think a bookbag could be a backpack, necessarily, depending on the bag...
You probably need the school to define what the heck they mean!!
If they are going to "ban" something, I would think they would ban something calling itself a backpack, because of the preponderance of pokets and zippers...
hmmmmm

I would say backpacks are bookbags. Bookbags is a more general term, which they are probably using to describe the bags with one strap that hang on the side near the waist (like messenger bags).

Yes there is a difference.. A book bag is usually made out of light cloth or cheap nylon while a backpack has poles on the sides for durability and usually made out of canvas or sturdy nylon..

backpack, you can pack it in behind your back. Bookbags, you can put your book in your bag. Of course they don't allowed bags in school. They only allowed you to pack your book in your back.

backpacks and bookbags are the same thing, your school should define these terms clearly.

BACKPACKS have two straps that go on ur back they are very bad for your back
BOOKBAGS are better for your back but kill youur shoulders. they have a strap that goes around yourshoulder and under the other arm and kind of look like a really big purse except it goes across the whole body
