I wanted to purchase External Hard disk. I am looking for 300 GB and above capacity. What all the features I have to look in. Do you know any good brands. If you have any good sites where i can have a look and purchase. It will be good help

Having an On/Off button is convenient so that the unit can be taken offline without having to phyically unplug it from the power outlet. Reasons for needing to take it offline are various.

Firewire (if you can use it) is better than USB.

The one feature that I feel is often overlooked is LAN capable. It will have both USB and Ethernet. This allows it to be used through a router or switch. You could use it as file server for your whole LAN .
