U can try out walk ons are usually an option at most colleges There's probably a slight chance that you will make it your obviously inexperienced with organized football but if your really good you have a chance. with our school system if your high school does not have a football team you can join another school's team in your district and play for them maybe you should look into that then maybe you'll be recruited. Or try flag football for a while my brother did that for a year and now he plays college ball. Good Luck though, i hope it works out for you.

Can a person walk on and play DI without playing high school football? Yes. The problem for you is: at 5'9 180 lbs and 4.6 forty you really don't come close to meeting the requirements for a DI QB. You would have to show them something very special. You would have to go to a high profile QB camp and get the attention of a college scout. Why not try a DIII program where you can still get a great education and have a much better chance of actually getting to play at some point.

You could play, however it would pretty challenging. Most university and college football programs have football scholarships and usually they are offered to athletes that have played at a high level in high school. Additionally it sounds like you have little or no experience in the game, which is a big negitive for most football programs. I would suggest that if your are truly intrested and willing to commit to the sport.....you may want to consider playing intermural football.....which requires no experience at all. Play at that level for a least a year to see if you have the capacity to play the game. In intermurals there is no contact.....no pads......it's flag football, but again it gives you a chance to see if you would have any success playing the game. Lets say you tear it up in intermurals and want to play with the big boys....something else to consider is what postion to play, what skills you have, do you have the physical attributes.....and whether you do or not.......you would have to be commited to getting those....how???.........YOU MUST WORK.....depending on how serious you are, you may be offered alternatives.....alternatives that aren't good for your body and ones that are just down right cheating....ie ....steriods or any other doping, cheating in school....ect.... To play at the college level you would be considered a student-athlete. As for tryouts....most major football programs do allow tryouts......or what is considered "walk on". For most walk ons they have some GLARING attribute......ie.....can kick 45+ yard field goals consistantly, run a sub 4.5 forty yrd dash, have hands like fly paper, are strong like the local farm tractor. The road is tough, but it can be done. This not an attempt to discourage you....just some facts. Good luck to you in your pursuit.

yeah, i'm kinda in the same situation as you are in. my situation is that my high school didn't have a football team and i really couldn't transfer. i know at most schools you can walk on to the team. but the best things you can do are start watching a lot of football and studying it also. also, you can start doing a lot of weight training and some running also wouldn't help. you can also try going to a junior college if that is an option. i know it's gonna be hard, but hey , if you want anything in life, you gotta go get it and i hope you make it!

Sure, many colleges allow "walk-ons" to try out. They tend to hold you to higher standards than those who have played before, because they want to know that you can actually play.
Many colleges have intramural teams in various sports. Might have one for football. But just practice, work on your own strength, conditioning, speed, etc. and you might impress the coach enough to get on (you won't usually get a scholarship if that's what you are looking for. If you DO get on, maybe by your senior year, they might consider it.)

Sure you can. Just talk to the coach and let him know you're interested and you can be a walk on. Depending on how big or good the college is will depend on your chances of making the team. Lack of experience will hurt you, but if you show promise they'll keep you and teach you. Start hitting the weights and work on strength training now. Good luck.

You don't even have to be a freshman! One of my best friends was a 5th year senior. The football team was doing lousy that year and he was complaining to some of his buddies. They told him that if he could do any better, he should try out for the team.
He went down to practice the next day and told the coach he was there to help. Coach had one of his assistants time him running a dash. The assistant showed the coach the stop watch and the coach said, "Get him a uniform and make him a wide receiver."

Yes, just about every college has walk-ons, but you have to try out. The bigger the school the harder it will be to make the team. If you're really good, they can offer you a scolarship. Also many colleges have intermural football offered.

It would be hard, but not impossible. Playing in high school definitely helps you develop the basic skills necessary to play in college.

Sometimes they offer walk on tryouts, however I do not think its possible to get a scholarship without being recruited. If you do make it throuh walk on tryouts after a year of proving yourself you might get the chance at a scholarship. Either way you have to enroll in the college in order to be a walk on.
