Interesting Question. Hanami - cherry blossom viewing - is over a thousand years old itself. Japan has a lot of celebrations that are centuries old some going back to the Yayoi and Jomon Period. Hokkaido and Kyushu are probably the areas which have the oldest celebrations

I would think a number of Shinto celebrations such as the reconstruction of Ise Shrine and the dance to commemorate the luring of the Sun-Goddess Amatersu-no-Omikami (forgive me spelling) from her cave where she hid.

Fire festivals such as Kuruma-no-Hi - which is Buddhist now - in the Kyoto area in October have their roots in Jomon traditions. Ainu traditional festival in Hokkaido no doubt stretch back to Jomon times.
