Well, even though I love the books and don't want Harry to die, JK Rowling already said there won't be more than seven books, so killing him off would be the best way to protect her legacy.

Sometimes, other mediocre authors will try to pick up where someone left off (ie: Jane Austen) and write their own versions of what happened next... It's usually a tragedy and can destroy some of the original vision, just like a botched sequel can do to a great first film.

If she really wants to immortalize Harry and make sure he lives on as a true hero, she will probably kill him. :-(

Is Harry Potter going to die in Book seven?
The death of Harry Potter is gonna happen in Book seven, which JK Rowling is writing currently. No one knows if it's true, but two people think so.
And they are Daniel Radcliffe, who plays Harry Potter in the movie versions of the Book, and Jim dale, who is the voice of Harry in the audio versions of the book.

It definitely is a strong possibility - writers with long running series are often tempted to destroy their characters when the book ends, as the pressure of living with them is too much. Sometimes, it is the perfect way to end some books too.

Here is what we have collected from around the Web on the topic. Stay tuned, we will be updating this page as soon as we get our hands on some moRe information on Harry Potter's possible death in Book Seven.

I hope not but it would be smart J.K. to do it cause if you kill the main character off no one can come back and steal him for their book later in life...

I read somewhere that the author was thinking of killing him off and people were begging her not to, she just figures that now is a good time to finish him off.

If the author does not plan to write another sequel then he may die.
