Because we're f*cken Americans!! You answered your own question. Think of all the great things Americans have done... now think of all the bad things Americans have done. While not perfect, but somehow expected to be, America is a fantastic place! The people who make the place fantastic are called Americans. It's great, America sucks off the creme de la creme of the world and direct-injects into its own Bored-Out V-24 Supercharged Hyper-Trans-Torkinating Plasma-Ignited NO8 Fueled Afterburning Godzilla-Smacken mix of Capitalism and Democratic Republican Federalism!!!!!!!!!!!!! Americans are arrogant, but...ah...we deserve the right to be! The US Marine Corps, The Airplane, Two world wars, the "H-Bomb", the MARSHALL PLAN, Korea 1, the Cold War, Desert Storm, Afghanistan, the continuing War on Terror, Apollo 11, a little thing called Rock'en Roll, The PC, the Internet ( http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/Irony ), the Uber-Blitzkrieg Invasion of Baghdad... I'm sorry, what was the question? ...How come we're so loud? If you were hauling around 50lbs (22.7 Kg) of testicles, you might be so inclined as to be a little bit loud too!

Have you been in Spain??? You will be quiet as a mouse in comparison with those guys.... I was living in Madrid for some time, when I came back virtually everybody thought I was talking too loud and being impolite.
According to me it's just the way people are taught to express themselves - when speaking passionately and louder, you get feelings out and feel better by the end of the day. If your feelings such as enthusiastic happiness are kept inside, its much worse for you in general. It's like the quote " I'm not yelling at you, just near you..." Much better to express what you feel and do not mind how loud you are, at least not all the times.

I don't think it's at all true that Americans are "louder" than other people.
You've obviously never been to a bar in Australia. Or a family gathering in the Philippines. Or a football match in England.
People everywhere are completely variable. Yes, there are loud Americans -- there are also quiet ones. Same goes for everybody else in the world.

Well if you go to NYC, there are a lot of Chinese or Japanese people, they are very loud, I was in the subway and about 5 of them came in and they were talking very loud they were jumping and running everywhere, this was the loudest I have ever seen anyone in my life, and they were tourists because they had maps, and I'm pretty sure they weren't American born because they were speaking very fast and well in either Chinese or Japanese

A very good question and one that would not have been asked much before 1950. One of several possibilities is that our early founding was done by a fiercely independent group and the values of self determination stayed with several generations. when we mix that with the cultural changes from 1950 on that put emphasis of the individual above all else and the notice me mentality mixed with entertainers who are admired for their lack of civility should produce exactly what you are observing

I don't think of Americans as loud. Louder than Brits maybe but just as loud as Aussies. In the grand scheme of things, Americans are not nearly as loud as other people in the world. Mediterreans are crazy loud, as are people of Latino decent. I think it has to do with outdoor cultures. You have to be loud if you're always outside and talking to your neighbors across the fence, you know?

Because other cultures, Europeans in particular, are in more dense populations than Americans and they respect each others' privacy more by being more quiet in public. In the US, we figure everybody is miles and miles away so we have to shout to be heard! (grin)
